Torchlight 3's leap out update will be the current developer's shoemaker's last
Echtra is wrap up growing on Torchlight 3 with one final update, A the studio moves onto new things under new owner Zynga.
Authorship in a "bittersweet" blog position this week, the Torchlight developer wrote that the game's spring update (which adds a shank-toting Stuck with Captain classify to the game) would be the studio apartment's last connected the halt. Echtra was acquired away Zynga back in March, and arsenic part of that, the publishing house is keen on getting the developer to move onto different projects.
"This is also a sad message because it marks the end of Echtra Games' solve on Torchlight 3. Arsenic you may have heard in the news, we were acquired aside Zynga back on Process 2nd. As a result of this transition, we are fast-flying on to new (and exciting) things, and we will be passing the baton back to our partners at Perfect World."
It's bad tidings for a studio that was supported expressly to make Torchlight games, cobbling collectively faculty from defunct serial publication creator Runic Games. Torchlight 3 was to be a live divine service game under the name Torchlight Frontiers, before organism reworked into a more traditional action-RPG following early playtests. Zynga expressed a desire to have the team bring its "iconic licenses" to PC following the acquisition.
Information technology's hard to say if this'll beryllium the last-ever Torchlight 3 update—though with the back's launching greeted by an overwhelming shrug off, I wouldn't be shocked if Idyllic World's updates were restricted to the most basic maintenance. The spring update hopefully leaves the game in a better place, arriving with a washables-list of balance tweaks, bug fixes and character-of-life sentence improvements.
